Auburn men's basketball gained a new commitment today - out of France, of all places.

With KeShawn Murphy out of eligibility, the Tigers needed a major boost on the front court. It got just that when 7-foot center Narcisse Ngoy pledged to Steven Pearl's program.

Ngoy comes to the Plains from the French Elite 2 League, where he averages 10.8 points per game and leads the league with 11.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per contest.

"We're excited to welcome Narcisse Ngoy to our program," Coach Pearl said in a release today. "He's a high-upside young man who brings toughness, physicality, and a team-first mindset to everything he does. Narcisse has a strong feel for the game on both ends of the floor. His instincts, ability to catch and finish around the basket, rim protection, and willingness to embrace contact will make him an immediate impact while filling a huge need for our team."

While Murphy is moving on, he could join a young front court with Filip Jovic and Sebastian Williams-Adams, who were both freshmen this season. Emeka Opurum also has eligibility remaining, but he missed most of the 2025-26 campaign due to an undisclosed medical issue.

"What stands out the most is his commitment to winning," Pearl continued. "He's not focused on individual numbers - he takes pride in doing the hard, physical work that helps his team succeed. He competes at a high level, processes the game well, and understands how to play within a system."

The Tigers will do battle with Illinois State on Thursday night in the NIT semifinals. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Saturday, March 28th, 2026

Auburn men's hoops defeated Nevada on Wednesday 75-69 in the semifinals of the NIT Tournament in Neville Arena, securing the Tigers' fifth straight 20-win season. Filip Jovic was particularly impressive, scoring 18 points with nine rebounds. He sank 9 of 12 shots. If my memory serves me correctly, he had a couple of noteworthy slam dunks.

On the whole, I saw another gritty performance against a very talented opponent. Let's hope that that same sense of urgency carries over into our next contest in Indianapolis, Ind. next Thursday when Auburn takes on Illinois State (23-12 overall, 12-8 Missouri Valley Conference). Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. The winner advances to the NIT Championship on Easter Sunday (April 5th).

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Saturday, March 21st, 2026

All I have to cover today are a couple of dates (and a time, as it were).

- First off, don't forget that Auburn men's hoops hosts Seattle in the second round of the NIT Tournament tomorrow in Neville Arena. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

- Even though this is four weeks from today, the football team's annual spring A-Day Game is set for April 18th at 2 p.m. CT. At this time, it's unclear (at least from my sources) as to whether or not it will be televised.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Monday, March 16th, 2026

Here's another post that will be of the brief variety.

Despite Auburn men's basketball's second-round SEC Tournament loss to Tennessee, the Tigers are not done yet. They're set to host South Alabama in Neville Arena for the NIT Tournament tomorrow night. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. CT on ESPN2. Obviously, there's no more room for error at this point.

Here's hoping the Tigers trot onto the court with fire in their eyes.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Saturday, March 7th, 2026

This is another day when I'm in the mood for simplicity.

Auburn's 88-74 win over LSU this past Tuesday night was thrilling and enjoyable - especially for Senior Night. I saw a different team that played with grit and urgency.

We can only hope that that same squad is on display tonight for the regular-season finale against Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Yes, I'm sure many fans fear a major case of "home-cooking" coming on in the case of the officials. That may very well be true, but no matter how splendidly or horribly a game is officiated, the simple fact remains: The officials don't play the game.

Our performance tonight will clearly indicate our standing when the SEC Tournament begins next Wednesday.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

February 2026

Wednesday, February 25th, 2026

I'm going to sum this up as bluntly as I can.

Auburn's 91-79 loss at Oklahoma last night was simply uninspiring and listless from the get-go. The Tigers trailed 51-42 at the half, and it only got worse over the final 20 minutes as Auburn committed nine turnovers in that frame (14 overall) that allowed the Sooners to run away with it.

Head coach Steven Pearl said after the game, in part, "We had no urgency and that's unacceptable." Spot on, Coach. Now the Tigers' NCAA Tournament hopes are hanging on by a thread. They'll have to find their groove in a hurry when they return to Neville Arena to host Ole Miss on Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Sunday, February 22nd, 2026

Elyjah Freeman finished as Auburn's second-leading scorer against Kentucky last night with 11 points, but none was more critical than his putback just before the clock struck midnight.

Trailing 74-73 after a Wildcat foul with 14.3 seconds remaining, the Tigers got three cracks at pulling off the win. Kevin Overton fired a shot. It was blocked. KeShawn Murphy tried the putback. No good. Then Freeman gave it a go. Success! Third time's the charm. By then, there was only slightly more than a second left on the clock.

The Tigers turned away UK's last-ditch effort and celebrated a thrilling 75-74 triumph in Neville Arena that broke a recent five-game losing skid. In a nutshell, I saw a team that simply refused to back down or give in. Auburn is now 15-12 overall, 6-8 in the SEC.

Now Steven Pearl's troops have to come down off their cloud in a hurry to prepare for a road trip to Oklahoma. The game is set for Tuesday night with tipoff at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody!

Bad news broke this morning for Auburn men's hoops. Keyshawn Hall will not play for the struggling Tigers in tonight's match at Arkansas. Hall was listed as out in Friday's initial availability report for the contest in Fayetteville.

Hall, Auburn's leading scorer, did not play in the final 12:38 of the Tigers' loss to Vanderbilt. Head coach Steven Pearl was asked about Hall ahead of Friday evening's status reveal.

"We'd obviously love for Key to close out games for us because he's a guy that can get to the foul line and do a lot of great things," Pearl said in a Friday media opportunity. "When he's in games, we're obviously better. The lineup that we had out there cut the lead from 14 to 4, so that group did a really good job of being aggressive defensively and running good offense. It was more of a coach's decision to roll with the guys we had."

The Tigers and Razorbacks will do battle tonight at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Auburn is looking to break a 3-game SEC losing streak.

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Friday, February 13th, 2026

The Tigers pocketed a 2027 pledge for the defensive line yesterday.

Donivan Moore, a 6-feet-4, 270-pound prospect from Hueytown, Ala. rated as a 4-star player, announced his commitment to Auburn via social media on Thursday.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Moore ranks as the No. 1 in-state prospect and the No. 5 defensive lineman in the country. He chose Auburn over his other finalists of Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas, Ohio State and LSU.

Moore is confident that new Tigers head coach Alex Golesh will restore the program's fortunes. That's why Moore wanted to come to the Plains to do his part. "What made Auburn right for me was the connection," he explained via Yahoo Sports. "Once Coach Golesh got there I felt a different vibe and things were going the right way. I feel like it's going to be a very special year. He's going to get the program back to where it needs to be and how it used to be."

Auburn is coming off a 5-7 campaign in which it fired Hugh Freeze.  The Golesh era will commence with a neutral-site matchup against Baylor in Atlanta on Sept. 5th.

In other news......

- The men's basketball team is on the road at Arkansas on Saturday night. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. (Personally, I feel uncharacteristically uneasy about this one after we embarrassed them in Neville Arena last month.)

That's all for today. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Sunday, February 8th, 2026

Once again, I'm in "short and sweet" mode regarding our 96-92 loss to arch-rival Alabama in Neville Arena yesterday.

The Tigers played admirably well in the first half, taking a 41-37 loss into the break. But the Tide scored 59 second-half points to overtake Auburn. The Tigers now stand at 14-9 overall, 5-5 in conference play.

In my mind. the biggest issue that contributed to Auburn's second-half downfall was its 3-point coverage on defense. It totally softened over the final 20 minutes and made life all too easy for Alabama.

Steven Pearl's squad will have to clean that coverage - and its 3-point efficiency - up majorly in order to prepare for an equally pesky Vanderbilt squad coming to the Plains next. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday night on the SEC Network. And after the Commodores endured a tough loss of their own yesterday to Oklahoma (by one point), this will come down to the inevitable question: Which team will be more badly wounded and hungrier to get back on the winning track?

That's all for now. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

Wednesday, February 4th, 2026

In an ordinarily quiet and uneventful month in the signing department, Auburn football has gained a new punter from Australia.

The Tigers signed punter Max Bourke yesterday, bringing its freshman signing class to 21. His addition will bring welcome competition to the punting spot, as he'll join a room with returning starter Hudson Kaak and John Alan McGuire.

The 6-feet-4, 225-pound Bourke played Aussie Rules football, basketball and cricket back in his home country.

In other news.....

- Don't forget that the men's hoops team will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Alabama in Neville Arena. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Sunday, February 1st, 2026

This is one of those days when I'm in "short and sweet" mode.

Auburn cut it close with Tennessee in Knoxville last night, but just couldn't quite complete the comeback in a 77-69 loss last night that snapped its four-game SEC win streak. The Tigers clearly weren't the same team that had turned in high-octane performances in the previous four contests.

Head coach Steven Pearl summed it up brilliantly, saying the Vols "beat us at our own game", further pointing out that "They got to the foul line 11 more times than we did." Auburn cut its deficit to three with under eight minutes left but couldn't finish the rally and never took the lead all night long.

Auburn now stands at 14-8 overall, 5-4 in league play. The Tigers will now enjoy a week off before returning to the friendly confines of Neville Arena next Saturday to host arch-rival Alabama. Tipoff will be at either 3 or 3:30 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2. Those designations will be made early this coming week.

That's all for today. Until next time, may the Lord be with you, God Bless, and WAR EAGLE!

January 2026

Saturday, January 24th, 2026

In less than two months, Auburn football will begin practice under new head coach Alex Golesh.

Today, the Tigers' spring practice schedule was shared by Jeris McIntyre, the program's Director of Football/Alumni Relations (and a former receiver himself), via a post on X (formerly Twitter). Auburn will open practice on March 17th and spring practice will wrap up with the annual A-Day Spring Game on April 18th. This year's A-Day game will follow a "traditional spring game format", contrary to last year's open practice.

This year's spring practice dates are as follows:

- March 17th

- March 19th

- March 21st

- March 24th

- March 26th

- March 28th

- March 31st

- April 2nd

- April 7th

- April 9th

- April 11th

- April 14th

- April 16th

- April 17th

- April 18th (A-Day)

Auburn's 15 practices will stretch just over a month as Coach Golesh and the new staff will get their first chance to work with a largely re-tooled team on the field. The Tigers' roster is set to feature 59 new players for 2026, including 39 incoming transfers.

That's clearly a significant overhaul after Auburn lost 52 scholarship players from the 2025 squad.

In other news......

- The men's basketball team celebrated a massive upset this afternoon, knocking off 16th-ranked Florida 76-67 for its first victory in Gainesville since Feb. 10th, 1996.

The Tigers will return home to Neville Arena to host Texas this coming Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT on ESPN2.

Friday, January 23rd, 2026

The Tigers have gained another transfer, this time at tight end.

Arlis Boardingham, a 6-foot-3 tight end from California, is transferring from Bowling Green to Auburn. He had originally played for Florida and was a regular contributor, later transferring to Bowling Green in 2025 but missing the season with an injury. According to a report from Auburn Undercover, Boardingham has already signed with the team. If a medical waiver is granted for the 2025 campaign, he will have two additional years of eligibility left to play for the Tigers.

Boardingham began his college career spending three years with the Gators and redshirted in 2022 after appearing in just one game. In 2023, he made his first two career starts and appeared in all 12 contests. The following season, he made two more starts and appeared in the first 11 games of the year. He was chosen as an FWAA Freshman All-American in 2023, when he caught 26 passes for 289 yards and four TDs. A 2023 match against Vanderbilt was the best of his Florida tenure: He caught seven passes for 99 yards and two scores to earn SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors.

In 24 career appearances for the Gators, he grabbed 44 receptions for 417 yards and six TDs. Boardingham posted a photo in March with his right arm in a sling, adding that he was two months post-injury and was excited about fall camp. He reportedly had surgery to heal a labrum injury, and though he was projected to start for Bowling Green, he never appeared in a game.

New Auburn head coach Alex Golesh has significantly refurbished the Auburn tight end room. Boardingham is the fifth transfer the Tigers have taken at the tight end position, joining Jake Johnson (North Carolina), Hunter Herring (ULM), Xavier Newsom (Howard) and Jonathan Echols (South Florida). The Tigers also signed Semmes (Ala.) Mary Montgomery prospect D.J. Broughton at the position.

- The men's basketball team is on the road again tomorrow afternoon, taking on Florida in Gainesville. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT on ESPN.

An offensive lineman from the Sunshine State is leaving Miami for the Plains.

Deryc Plazz, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound product from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, announced his transfer to Auburn via social media yesterday evening. Plazz, who spent two seasons with the Hurricanes, redshirted in 2024 and made four appearances in '25, including Miami's win over Ohio State in the CFP Quarterfinal.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings for the Class of 2024, Plazz ranks as a 3-star prospect, the No. 58 interior offensive lineman, the No. 101 recruit from the Sunshine State and the No. 738 overall prospect. He signed with the 'Canes out of 40 scholarship offers and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Auburn football made a major gain today.

This afternoon, tight end Tank Proctor, a 3-star tight end from Florida, pledged to the Class of 2027, according to the official Rivals X account. He is the first commitment for said class.

Proctor currently attends American Plantation and is ranked as the 30th-best tight end recruit in the nation, and the 586th-best player overall in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-feet-5, 214-pound soon-to-be high school senior received an official offer from the Tigers in May of 2025, and he committed to head coach Alex Golesh's program over several other major teams including Florida, Florida State, Miami and Missouri.

Proctor is the first high school win for the Golesh Era, and he will more than likely prove critical in helping Golesh clinch more commitments for 2027 in the spring and summer.

Sunday, January 18th, 2026

I'm going to keep this as blunt as I can.

Auburn's 71-67 win over South Carolina in Neville Arena was very tight - yet also pivotal as it enters a two-game road stretch.

Filip Jovic was the workhorse for the Tigers, as he scored a career-high 23 points. Auburn did surprisingly well in the free throw department, nailing 76.7% of those shots. Of course, there's always room for improvement.

Defense was also effective. The Tigers held the Gamecocks to 25% shooting in the first half to take a 30-24 lead into the break. Plus, Auburn forced 15 turnovers, while the Tigers had 11. South Carolina out-rebounded Auburn 39-35, but of course, the ultimate factor lies in the scoreboard.

The Tigers hit the road to take on Ole Miss in Oxford on Tuesday night, followed by a trip to Florida in Gainesville next Saturday. Auburn and Ole Miss will face off at 8 p.m. CT on ESPNU.

Tuesday, January 13th, 2026

Auburn fans can now start making plans for their first glimpse of the Alex Golesh Era at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

News surfaced today that the annual A-Day spring game has been set for April 18th at 2 p.m. CT and will cap this year's "A-Day Week", which will feature a handful of home sporting events. According to a release, this year's game will be a "traditional spring game format." It will feature a pregame Tiger Walk and the marching band will be in attendance at the game.

This is a sharp contrast from the adjusted format from the 2025 A-Day Game, which was more of an open practice than a game. Tickets for this year's game will go on sale Feb. 3rd and broadcast details will be announced at a later date. (Personally, everything in my bones tells me it will only be streamed, as has been the case in recent years - at least to the best of my memory. We shall see.)

Saturday, January 10th, 2026

An edge rusher is changing his Tigers of choice from Missouri to Auburn.

Nate Johnson is transferring to the Plains, signing with Alex Golesh's Tigers from the transfer portal after spending one season at Missouri. Prior to Missouri, he played for Appalachian State.

Johnson played in nine contests, sparingly, this season. He recorded six total tackles and a tackle for loss. In his career, Johnson has 83 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two pass deflections, one fumble recovery and two forced fumbles.

As a member of the Class of 2023, Johnson was a 3-star prospect out of Gaffney (S.C.) High, ranking as the No. 30 overall prospect in the state, the No. 121 safety in the class, and the No. 1,577 overall prospect in the class according to the Rivals Industry Ranking.

Johnson's move is good timing considering that Coach Golesh already has one less edge rusher to his name. Former Tiger Amaris Williams committed to Georgia earlier this week. Williams played in 11 contests during the 2025 campaign. He amassed 16 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. As the season progressed, he became a bigger force on the pass rush. That came after a freshman season in which Williams played in 11 games, tallying six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks during that campaign.

In other news......

- One last reminder of something that I've mentioned in my last two posts: The men's hoops team hosts Arkansas in Neville Arena tonight at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Friday, January 9th, 2026

A player whom many Auburn fans might regard as a catalyst in the Tiger offense is returning to the Plains next season.

Running back Jeremiah Cobb, the team's leading rusher in 2025, will be back with the team next fall, he announced via an Instagram story post today. That will mark his fourth year with the program as he looks to build upon a breakout season in 2025.

Cobb amassed 969 yards and five TDs this past season. He finished the year having cracked the century mark in rushing yardage in five contests and, at times, was the only thing clicking for the offense. Now, he'll play a role in a revamped offense led by new head coach Alex Golesh and offensive coordinator Joel Gordon.

With Damari Alston having left the program midseason, Cobb's partner in the backfield will likely be USF transfer running back Nykahi Davenport, who led the Bulls' running backs in rushing yards this past season. Cobb has one year of eligibility left and is arguably the most high-profile offensive player to announce he will return to the Tigers.

The transfer portal officially opened on Jan. 2nd and will remain open for player to enter until Jan. 16th.

In other news.....

- The men's basketball team will return to action tomorrow when it hosts Arkansas in Neville Arena. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. CT on ESPN. Inevitably, the question weighing on everyone's minds is: Have the Tigers moved on from the highly-controversial heartbreaker against Texas A&M this past Tuesday? (Yes, I watched the ending a couple of times and read an enormous number of comments on Facebook. Honestly, I was so upset by the ending and all of the mixed responses that I just couldn't bring myself to write anything about that until now. But regardless, what's done is done, and we need to move on. (That said, in my eyes, unless the officials saw something that I didn't, we WON that one.)

One young offensive lineman is returning to the Plains next fall.

Freshman Kail Ellis announced he will be coming back to the Plains via X (formerly Twitter), reposting a report from On3. He becomes the first offensive lineman who started a game this past season to return. Ellis started two games at center in 2025 after starter Connor Lew tore his ACL.

He played significant snaps in two more SEC games, stepping in for Lew against Missouri and Oklahoma. A 17-year-old freshman this season, he seems to have quite the potential and could be a long-term solution for the Tigers at center.

Ellis' return is crucial for the offensive front from a numbers standpoint as well. Ten Auburn offensive linemen are currently set to leave the program, including the entire starting five.

The transfer portal officially opened at 11 p.m. CT on Thursday and will remain open until Jan. 16th.

In other news.....

- The men's basketball team lost a tough one at Georgia yesterday in overtime by a score of 104-100, dropping Auburn to 9-5 overall. Not the best way to open SEC play by any means. But the Tigers will have a chance to rebound this week with two home games. The first comes on Tuesday night against Texas A&M. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

Saturday, January 3rd, 2026

Auburn got good football roster news on Friday evening, as two promising safeties announced they will return next season.

Freshmen AnQuan Fegans and Eric Winters announced in a collaborative Instagram post that they will be back on the Plains in 2026. Although they're not yet veterans, the two became regular contributors in 2025.

Winters closed out his freshman campaign with 33 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup, while Fegans tallied 24 tackles, one pass breakup and one interception. Their decisions extend a trend of Auburn's young defenders choosing to stay put, after fellow freshmen Elijah Melendez, Bryce Deas, Malik Autry and Jourdin Crawford announced their decisions to return on Thursday.

The Tigers' safety room still has a chance to return most of its production from last season, with Champ Anthony, Kaleb Harris and Sylvester Smith all able to return alongside Winters and Fegans.

Happy New Year, Auburn fans!

I'm pleased to say that my first post for this year focuses on one returning football player for the 2026 season.

This afternoon, news surfaced that defensive lineman Malik Autry, a former top-5 prospect, plans to return to the Plains next season. As you might imagine, this comes as a major sigh of relief for the Tigers, who have lost numerous key players to the transfer portal in recent days, including star receiver Cam Coleman and former 5-star quarterback Deuce Knight.

Autry, however, will be back as one of Auburn's defensive line leaders next season. As a true freshman in 2025, he tallied 8 tackles. According to Pro Football Focus, Autry played 86 snaps this season, earning an overall defensive grade of 66.4.

Autry narrowly missed out on consensus 5-star status coming out of high school. He was the No. 48 overall player in the country for the Class of 2025, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was also the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama for that cycle.

The transfer portal officially opens on Friday.

In other news.....

- The men's hoops team returns to action on Saturday with its SEC opener in a road match at Georgia. Tipoff is set for noon CT on the SEC Network.
